Hi, I am Rachael. I have been writing poems since I have been at school, so a long time! I like to make people laugh and I like to make people think about things that are important to me.
I write about being a woman, about my disability, friendship and leadership.
It makes me feel important when I write things down.
I like being in the poetry group, we have a laugh together.
See below for a selection of my favourite poems.

This poem is about me and who I am.
I Am a Woman
I am a woman.
I don’t smile a lot.
I am a woman.
My head spins
all the time.
I am a woman.
Sometimes hot.
Sometimes cold.
I am a woman.
People don’t listen to me.
I am a woman.
I am angry.
I am a woman.
I cause problems.
I create problems.
I am a woman.

This poem is about my friend not having anywhere to live and what that meant to me.
Listening Ear
For want of an ear my voice was lost
For want of my voice my home was lost
For want of my home my best friend was lost
For want of my best friend my happiness was lost
And all for the want of a listening ear

I wrote this about myself because people are complicated and hard work.
I AM
I am sexy sweet person
I am kind to other people
I am caring and friendly
I am not nice to people
I am not nice person
I am not telling lies
I am not snappy
I am not horrible
I am not OCD
I am not telling the truth

This poem is about people being horrible to me and saying mean things to me. I haven’t done nothing wrong, I’ve got a disability.
My Disability
I haven’t
Done nothing
Wrong.
I’m hot and sweaty
It’s really hard to hear things
People talking. Keeping on.
Calling me ‘brick wall’.
If I have annoyed them
Calling me ‘are you deaf?’
Shouting in my ears
On the phone
Shouting
Shouting
At. Me.
I don’t want to go
To hospital
People talking about me
When
They
Think
I can’t hear.
Talking about me.
Horrible things.
That I don’t want
to happen.
I wish
I couldn’t
Hear
Them.
Makes me nervous.
I sweat.
Me and my ears
Have done
Nothing wrong.
