Hi, I am Liam. I think being part of the poetry group helps me to express my creative side and poetic ability. Being a member of the poetry group makes me feel like a special part of the community. It helps me to show who I am and to have my voice heard.
I like to write about anything that expresses my feelings, I enjoy working as a team and writing poems as a group.
Being part of the poetry group is like being a clock that works together, we are each little cogs that mesh together and when we are together we work really well.

I wrote this poem because it makes me feel like I am setting the bird inside of me free. We all have a bird inside of us and we all want to set that bird free.
Freedom
I’m flying to freedom,
I’m happy and calm.
I’m just a little bird but I’ve got a kind heart,
I don’t go through clouds and they won’t break apart.
My wings are tiny and I want to be free.
And when I am free
just the sky and me.

I wrote this poem after reading ‘Wild Geese’ By Mary Oliver.
Gentle
You do not have to run around like a headless chicken.
You do not have to put so much pressure on yourself.
Tell me about the sound of kittens fighting playfully.
The world calls to me with the soft feel of green.
I’m surrounded with the sound of banging, crashing
it consumes me. I belong when I’m full of gentle sounds,
of happy birds, chirping in the trees above me.
Little children laughing.
I close my eyes.
I am an elephant, gentle giant walking across land
Happy and confident.

I wrote this about a friend that I care about.
Her hair was a cherry
Her hair was a cherry plucked out of a Bakewell tart and it smelled like strawberries fresh from the plant
Her eyes looked like saucers with little flowers printed on top.
They are a lily, stylish, delicate and open with a beautiful smell.
Their smile is an orange wedge turned upside down.
They are the daybreak, bursting into the sky.

I wrote this with a friend of mine about people who talk too fast and how it makes me feel.
Fast Talker
Your fast worlds
Your fast words
To be told where I can go
To eat what I am given
To be told what to wear
To not have my own space
I’m a prized pet
I’m a robot
Slow down
Slow down
Your fast worlds
Your fast words
Slow down
Slow down
You make me feel like a piece
Of rotting fruit,
Your words like flies around me.
Your fast words build walls around me
Brick by brick surround me
The walls that slow me down
Your fast words make my head hurts
Eyes dancing, slow down, my boiling brain,
I need a steady pace not a scary face
In a pace I can follow, words
I can swallow. I’m not a rocket
Slow down your fast world
Slow down your words
Slow down
Slow Down
Let me go where I want to go
have a choice of food
A choice of what I can wear
have my own space.
To be the person I can be
Slow your world down
Slow your words down
